Refunds and cancelling
Last updated September 2026
Fourteen days, no reason needed. If you paid for Marginalia and you would rather you had not, write to us within fourteen days of the charge and you get all of it back. That applies to a first payment, a renewal, a year bought outright, and a month bought outright — every way there is to pay.
How to ask
Email support@marginaliareader.com from the address you paid with, and say you want a refund. You do not have to explain why, and we will not ask. If you write from a different address, tell us which one you paid with so we can find the charge.
We start it within two working days. The money goes back the way it came, to the same card or account, and how long it then takes is your bank’s to decide — usually a few days, occasionally the better part of a fortnight.
Cancelling
A monthly or yearly subscription can be cancelled whenever you like. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not end the one you have already paid for, so Pro stays on until the period you bought runs out and then quietly becomes Free again. Nothing is deleted — your shelf, your highlights and your notes are not part of the plan.
Billing, receipts and the cancel button live with Whop, under the email you paid with. You can also just write to us and we will cancel it for you.
Outside the fourteen days we do not refund the rest of a period you have already started. If something has gone wrong — a charge you did not expect, two charges for one month, a plan that never arrived — that is not a refund question, it is a mistake, and we fix mistakes whenever you find them.
A charge you do not recognise
Marginalia does not take your card itself. Card payments outside Egypt are taken by Whop, card payments inside Egypt by Paymob, and PayPal payments by PayPal, so it may be their name rather than ours on your statement. If a line on a statement has us puzzled too, send us the date and the amount and we will tell you exactly what it was.
One-time payments
A year or a month bought outright does not renew and cannot lapse into a charge you forgot about — that is the point of it. The same fourteen days apply, from the day you bought it.
The free plan
Free is free: the whole reader, every book, every highlight and note. There is nothing to refund and nothing to cancel.
Your legal rights
Nothing here takes away a right you have by law. If you are in the UK or the EU you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within fourteen days, and consumer law in your country may give you more than this page does. Where it does, it wins.
